Oakgrove School
Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire

Closing Date: 25 April 2025

Oakgrove School is looking to appoint an inspirational non-teaching Head of Year who is passionate about working with young people in our Sixth Form (KS5) joining in July or September 2025.

This role is ideal for those passionate about setting high expectations and those with a belief that every child can succeed, getting the very best out of their Post 16 education. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator engaging with staff, students, and parents to create a positive and aspirational Sixth Form culture, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment that prepares students for life beyond school. You will be an organised and strategic thinker with a commitment to student and school success, driving forward academic excellence, personal development and post-16 accomplishments and fulfilment. In addition, this role provides strong pastoral and academic guidance to all students ensuring they are supported to achieve their full potential. The personalised approach at Oakgrove Sixth Form is designed to cater for the needs of every individual and the tailored support provided throughout sixth form is second to none.

The successful applicant will provide pastoral support to students in a year group and the wider sixth-form, help maintain our high standards of behaviour and, with support, deliver assemblies. They will join a small, successful and supportive team and receive appropriate training.

Oakgrove Sixth Form has its own dedicated Sixth Form Centre with a modern common room and a fully ICT equipped Study Centre. Along with an extensive range of Level 3 courses, Oakgrove provides numerous opportunities to develop personal interests and to get involved in sixth form life, including the school council and a range of sixth form committees. A further way to develop skills is to attain the Oakgrove Excellence Award, which recognises the wider curriculum and the way in which our students contribute to the school and wider community in a variety of ways such as peer mentoring, supporting lower school lessons and reading mentors.

This role is full time (37 hours per week) for 41 weeks of the academic year. The working pattern is Term time, 5 INSET days and the last 2 weeks of August to support students receiving GCSE results and preparing for the new academic year. Annual leave is already factored into the salary offered which means there is no separate holiday entitlement to take during term time.
